Welcome to DeepLight MinistriesTM (DLM). This website has been designed to be a resource for your spiritual development.  With the Apostle Paul, we strive to speak to

everyone and teaching everyone with the truth in love, [and to help you] grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ (Eph 4:15) until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God (Eph 4: 13a).  Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ . . . in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col 1:28; 2:3).

With the Apostle James, we hope to challenge our claim of faith with call to response. And yes, we may cause a debate or two, but it will not be over how many angels can fit on the head of a needle. It will be to serve the truth to God’s honor and glory in Christ. It will be to love God and our neighbors.

You will find here materials from various Christian traditions. Some of you may find it odd that we will not divide along denominational lines but only over what we can discern to be the truth wherever and however God gives it to us.  The truth will only be shown as such by the light of investigation as led by the Spirit of God.  Nevertheless, if your conscience before God or tradition disallows you from certain items presented on this site, there is enough represented here, within your tradition, to help you “occupy” and grow in his grace until our Lord comes.

We will continue to draw from the rich heritage that is ours within the universal and singular body of Christ, known as the Church.  To use a much-maligned word, we seek to be ecumenical in the best sense of the word as we reason with one another (Acts 17:11; 18:4; James 3:17). We will strive to learn from and apply the best that is offered from the various traditions, such as Protestantism, Eastern and Oriental Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Celtic, Anglican, non-denominationalism, emergent developments, and much more not yet mentioned.

At all times, whatever Christian offering may be presented, we will strive to remain within the framework of traditional Christian beliefs, that is, orthodoxy as handed down through the ages, and attested by the body of Christ, no matter the garb it may wear.  Whether Messianic, pre-Constantine, sixteenth century, the post-modern expressions thriving in homes and on the Internet, or the writings of the Church’s luminaries and emergent leaders; we hope to serve you with the truth. 

We are not hindered to take the riches provided from the hand of God through monk, nun, mystic, theologian, professor, minister (ordained or not), priest, director, hermit, pope, prelate, bishop, layperson, or Balaam’s donkey. Wherever and however God is speaking, we will seek to draw out the light and guidance that he provides there, as already said, within the framework of historic and biblical Christianity as our test of truth.

This rubric may be found in various theologies, doctrines, disciplines, or practices. Additionally we will examine prayer, silence, worship, confession, communion, fasting, pilgrimages, meditation, contemplation, scripture reading, books, poems, giving, poverty, austerity, social activity, or simple prostration.  

We will consider sin, salvation, and God's righteous requirement in providing the solution to our greatest need. And will will discuss how we should live in light of  God's call, how we should respond to him, and how we should respond to his entire creation.

We do not apologize for openness to God’s speaking or our fear to limit his way of reaching his people in various times, traditions, places, cultures, and milieus. We do apologize, upfront, for any offense, omission, or commission against our God or our neighbor through error or sin in any manner that may find its way in through fallible creatures, saved by grace, handling the most precious Lord Jesus Christ as he speaks to and guides his Church. We cherish the Apostle Peter’s words:

So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up to salvation—if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
